26 ten-ft tall custom artist designed Gibson Guitars invade The Sunset Strip. The kick off party last night involved Brian Wilson, Cherie Currie from The Runaways, Lou Adler, amazingly talented artists, a red ribbon closing off a portion of Sunset, and the largest pair of scissors I have ever seen.
It's gonna be the bees knees! Last week was unbelievable! And if you want a chance to see a bona feid guitar god up close and very personal, this is your best chance! You don't want to miss this show, you'll be kicking yourself forever if you do!
The Sunset Plaza restaurants on the south side of Sunset took over all the brand new public sidewalk. The hostess stations, the chairs, the umbrellas, the propane heaters and patrons still make it impossible to walk by without stepping into traffic. They even put out an advertising sign blocking the new handicap ramp. Great use of federal tax dollars. Photographs will be taken and submitted to http://www.recovery.gov/Contact/ReportFraud/Pages/Report_Fraud.aspx
Her first album pleasantly surprised and rocked me but OOOM is more a head-banging dream sequence. The lady is bad ass and, other than the phallic visual, isn't there just something evocative, striking and immensely sexy about a chick who can rock the bass with authority? Yes, there is.
Yee haw – its Fat Tuesday. Yes, the Saints won the Super Bowl, and yay for them, but it's the beginning of Mardi gras. For most people, it means getting incredibly drunk in New Orleans. Let me explain something – Mardi Gras is the French version of a European tradition, or the observance of Shrove Tuesday, a celebration before Ash Wednesday and the observance of Lent. Also, these are the days wherein we look about our culture and traditions plus time to relax and give time for the family.
Thanks for your suggestions! A locals pass is a great idea and is one to explore. During the Sunset Strip Music Festival street fest on Sept. 12, guests were able to go in and out of all music venues -- as well as see live performances on the street -- for one ticket price. There was also an option to purchase a two or three-day pass for access to all venues during the fest. This was a great experience, and one we will continue this year.
Venues have explored other programs throughout the year as well, including the Viper Room and The Roxy partnering for a program that allowed you to buy one ticket and get access to both clubs. And there are also the quarterly Tweet Crawls, which give participants free entrance to the Viper Room, Roxy, The Comedy Store and other venues.
We'll definitely look into the possibility of an overall 'locals pass'. Thanks for the input!
I think this is an excellent idea...but it doesn't go far enough. The Strip should offer the general public one day and weekend passes that will allow a person to get into any of the venues. Reason being is that it will turn the Sunset Strip into a destination point for both locals and people that come from out of town if they can pay one fee and experience any of the music and comedy on The Strip. As a musician that has played The Strip for a number of years (but also a marketing guy), what tends to happen is that people come to a club to see a specific band, but once that band is done they often exit the club. These types of passes give people an incentive to go to a club they may have never been to before and see bands they may have never heard of. The sale of each pass would be divided equally among the clubs. They could be sold by the City of West Hollywood or at each club, etc.

Where did you see a sign blocking the ramp?
