Sunset Strip Construction Update: July 20-26

Good news everyone! There are just a couple more weeks of construction left to go. The final round of paving is set for this Thursday, July 22 and Friday, July 23. This is the final rubberized asphalt layer and it reuses old car tires that would otherwise go to landfills.

 

After paving, the final traffic striping will be installed. A crew will install the traffic paint on the road to create the lines and markings on the road. Due to traffic impacts, and since this process is not loud, they will do this work at night.

 

The final sidewalks and curb work will be completed within the next week. The contractor has a few locations that will be fixed and will be complete with the concrete work. The contractor will also continue to work on the new medians at the west entrance to the City.

Sunset Strip Picks: July 19-25

Tuesday, July 20 Key Club presents ’90s nostalgia rockers Spacehog. Hey remember when the phrase “alternative rock” actually held some meaning? Social Strip 1st Birthday @ The Standard

Chances are your first birthday was not this fun: pool time, ping pong, bags, DJs, gourmet cupcakes, PBR, The Standard's views and sunshine. Lots and lots of sun. But that's how members of The Social Strip, the geniuses behind the infamous "TweetCrawls", roll. Luckily for us, man on The Strip Brent X Mendoza braved the fun and the sunshine to capture it all.
