Scene On Sunset: July 2010

The Sunset Strip was busy the past two weeks with Spin The Bottle and Scion Presents at The Roxy, as well as top shows at the Viper Room, Key Club, Cat Club, Whisky and House of Blues. Brent X Mendoza was on the scene to capture the people and fashions that visited the boulevard.  Were you here?

GuitarTown Sunset Strip Launching August 12 With A Block Party!

The Sunset Strip Business Association and Gibson, in partnership with the City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau, are pleased to announce the official unveiling of GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip is set for Thursday, August 12 from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. GuitarTown is a public art project that features 26 ten-foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul model guitars. The oversized Gibson guitar sculptures were created by local and nationally-acclaimed visual artists, with each guitar sculpture celebrating a musician, personality, or influential moment unique to The Sunset Strip’s history and Gibson Guitar. The guitars will be strategically placed along the 1.6-mile Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.

Sunset Strip Picks: August 2-8

Tired of the same old cover bands running through the same old tired sets? Monday, August 2 the House of Blues Sunset Strip shakes things up when they kick off their new weekly residency with Rock Sugar. Performing live mashups of your favorite classic rock and metal tunes, this is The Strip’s new Monday night destination. Doors open at 9 p.m. $5 show, $5 drinks and $5 beers. www.hob.com

 

Tuesday, August 3 the Viper Room continues their recession-friendly summer series It’s Free F*ckers. This week the spunky femme fatale fronted Some Hear Explosions take the stage along with Sage, Lovers Drugs and Satellite Crush.
