Tuesday, Nov. 2 head to the Viper Room for the Brooklyn sounds of Black Taxi. This self-described “grit pop” band brings NYC street sensibility to dance worthy indie rock. In what’s quickly becoming a Wednesday night staple on The Sunset Strip, JD Bender’s Hollywood Hayride returns on Nov. 3. This week’s show features the L.A. debut of Windy City greats Rabble Rabble as well as Sullied River, Clay Pruitt and, of course, JD Bender and his All-Star Country Cover Band. Dust off those checkered Vans on Thursday, Nov. 4 as the House of Blues Sunset Strip presents O.C. ska heroes Reel Big Fish with special guest Goldfinger. Friday, Nov. 5 the Key Club presents alt-metal trailblazers Helmet. Formed in New York in the late ’80s, this juggernaut powerhouse hasn’t lost steam since their groundbreaking debut with 1992’s Meantime. Still holding their ground as consummate innovators, catch these influential pioneers as they showcase the latest tracks from their greatly anticipated new release, Seeing Eye Dog. Pick Of The Week: Spend a leisurely Saturday sampling tasty brews when The Roxy Theatre hosts the inaugural L.A. Vegan Beer Festival on Nov. 6. Roxy owner Nic Adler, Tony Yanow (Tony’s Darts Away), and vegan blogger Quarry Girl join forces to bring you more than 20 different samplings from brewers across California. To help soak up some of those suds, numerous vegan food trucks will also be on hand, as well as live performances by the Paul Chesne Band and others.
