Sunset Strip Picks: Dec. 14-20

Tis the season Sunset Strip style with a week full of holiday festivities and special treats!

Continuing their tradition of big bands in a small venue, The Roxy Theatre jump starts your week with not one, but TWO nights of The All-American Rejects. Your favorite radio friendly unit shifters take the stage Monday, Dec. 14 and Tuesday, Dec. 15. Doors for both shows open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $22.50. www.theroxyonsunset.com

The Strip’s newest eatery The Den will host a special Holiday Party on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and you’re invited! With the restaurant’s warm Aspen lodge style ambiance you can cozy up next to the fireplace while enjoying all the comfort classics that grandma used to make. This holiday soiree will be open to the public beginning at 8 p.m. www.thedenofhollywood.com

Pick of the Week: Wednesday, Dec. 16 “hit the slopes” with the Viper Room! Join ex-Viper GM Mike Wilson as he celebrates his birthday with the LA premiere of snowboard doc “Signatures.” And as if that wasn’t enough, local legends Golden State will bring their soaring vocal stylings to the stage for their final appearance of 2009. Get there early before the fresh powder dries up! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. www.viperroom.com

Woke up on the bathroom floor of the Viper Room? You might as well get a little hair of the dog…by enjoying another of their fine shows. Thursday, Dec. 17 join notorious doorman/DJ Casper and his band The Bad Spirits (featuring members of L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat and The Icarus Line) as he returns to his old stomping grounds. Since he probably denied you entrance at some point, now’s your chance to sneak in and take retribution! Also on the bill, 8mm, the personal music project of A-list record producer Sean Beavan (NIN, Marilyn Manson, No Doubt, etc). This is a don’t miss. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 advance/$12 day of show. www.viperroom.com

Friday, Dec. 18 The Roxy Theatre presents the third and final show with all-star super cover group Camp Freddy. After surveying the hits from the ’70s and ’80s during previous weeks' shows, it’s time for the Gen-Xers to relive the glory that was the rock of the ’90s. Camp Freddy drummer Matt Sorum will be doing double duty this evening, as he will also be performing with his latest project, the all female burlesque troupe The Darling Stilettos. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20. This show will sell out. www.theroxyonsunset.com

But before you head to The Roxy for Camp Freddy, why not enjoy the third Tweet Crawl, featuring a festive holiday theme. The Comedy Store, Viper Room, The Roxy Theatre, The Standard, Citysearch LA and the Hustler Store are involved in this social media event that allows Twitter followers to enjoy food and drink specials as well as find secret prizes as the event travels The Sunset Strip. The Tweet Crawl starts Friday evening at The Standard at 6:30 p.m. Holiday sweaters are encouraged. Follow @TheSunsetStrip and visit http://bit.ly/779CA4 for more info.
