If you haven’t heard, it is officially “Social Media Week” in Los Angeles. Starting today, cities around the world are celebrating social media with free events and panels aimed at connecting people, content and conversations. Businesses in West Hollywood and on The Sunset Strip are hosting a number of free panel discussions and events as part of weeklong social media celebration. Update your iCalendar and join us!

 

Whole Foods West Hollywood kicks off the week with a twEATup for the younger crowd today at 3 p.m. The event includes healthy after school snacks, a scavenger hunt and coloring activity. Regiser for this free event.

 

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, the Pacific Design Center will host a conference discussion exploring the user experience, content and brand strategies for the social web. Leaders in interactive design and brand marketing will discuss how to tap into social media usage. The event begins at 2 p.m. Register for this free event

 

House of Blues Sunset Strip hosts “The Next Stage of Engage: Bringing Online Music Communities to Life” on Wednesday, Sept. 22. The night will celebrate the role of social media in the live music industry with a panel discussion with representatives from Ustream, Disney, Twitter, The Roxy Theatre and ReverbNation, as well as a cocktail hour and the first ever #HOBROX – a free, all-ages live music showcase co-presented by House of Blues and The Roxy Theatre. The showcase features some of the hottest up-and-coming bands from The Sunset Strip, including Hypercrush, Wicker, Cataracs & Dev and Donnis. The night begins at 6 p.m., with the live music party at 7:30 p.m.  Register for this free panel. RSVP for the party.

 

Continue your socializing on Thursday, Sept. 23 with a Tweetup at Citysearch. This Sunset Strip business helped pioneer online consumer and business interaction, allowing customers to become champions and critics for their community’s restaurants and retailers. Citysearch will host at their offices (8833 Sunset Boulevard) from 9-10 p.m. Register for this free event

 

Keep your Sunset Strip party going on Friday, Sept. 24 as The Comedy Store hosts a panel discussion about the ways The Sunset Strip community utilized social media to revitalize this storied boulevard. The panel features Nic Adler (The Roxy Theatre), Alf Lamont (The Comedy Store) and Nathan Levinson (Viper Room, The Mint), and is hosted by Kyra Reed. The hour-long panel discussion starts at 5 p.m. Register for this free event.

 

Stick around after the panel for a TweetCrawl along The Sunset Strip. The TweetCrawl is part social media networking and part bar/restaurant/business crawl along the mile-long Sunset Strip.
