It’s summertime and crews on The Sunset Strip are working hard to make your living even easier. Construction has moved west to the final phase (Phase III) between San Vicente west to the City Limit with Beverly Hills.

This week crews began grinding the top surface of the existing roadway and prepping the base layer of asphalt for the new road. Due to regulations by the Regional Air Quality Management District, this work must be done at night, when traffic volumes are lower and there are less vehicles kicking up dust. The work is taking place Thursday through Sunday nights from June 20-24 and June 27-July 1, between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work on sidewalks and curbs is also continuing this week. The work includes removing broken concrete and tree roots and replacing the portions with new sidewalk. New trees are also being planted. We are proud to introduce the Golden Rain Tree will line the boulevard between San Vicente and the City’s west limits.

Additional work this week includes installing new storm drains, traffic striping and adjusting manholes and valves in the roadway.

During working hours (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), traffic lanes will be reduced down to one lane in each direction. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during the construction and temporary lane closures.

Remember that all businesses are open during construction! For more information on the project visit www.weho.org/sunsetproject.
