The first of June is kicking off with some good news: The Sunset Strip Beautification Project is on schedule to be complete by mid-July, leaving a smooth, freshly paved road, healthy trees and sparkling sidewalks in its wake.

In fact, the paving for Phase II of the project — the area of Sunset Boulevard between Alta Loma Road and San Vicente Boulevard — wrapped last week! This week crews will put the final touches on the roadway, including striping the lanes, before moving to the final phase of the beautification project. Phase III of the beautification project includes San Vicente Boulevard west to the City of West Hollywood border with Beverly Hills.

Crews will also complete the new medians in the Sunset Plaza area this week and continue  to fix sidewalks and curbs between San Vicente Boulevard and the West Hollywood City limit. Work includes taking out the broken and damaged concrete, and replacing it with new sidewalk. Also included in this work is the installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps at the corners of the intersections.

During working hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.), traffic lanes will be reduced down to one lane in each direction. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during the construction and temporary lane closures.

Please remember that all businesses will be open during their normal business hours, and we encourage you to support your local businesses during construction.
