This Wednesday, the pride of West Chester, Pa., CKY, will kick-off a 12-date fan appreciation tour at the world famous Viper Room. Celebrating the release of their new B-Sides & Rarities collection, the no-holds-barred Billboard-charting hard rockers are eager to hit stages across the U.S. to showcase fan favorites as well as their new single, “Afterworld,” a track written for the Jackass 3D film. Before heading to the Viper Room, learn what fan question makes drummer and band spokesman Jess Margera want to “stab himself in the face” and his thoughts on hitting the road again.

How does it feel to be back on the road, playing a more intimate club tour?
We love playing the Viper; it’s one of my favorites in L.A.  When I lived there, I used to get wrecked at Metal Shop every Monday [laughter], back when Steel Panther was "Metal Shop"!

After the Viper show we are doing the Musink Festival down in Orange County, so this gig will be a good one to get our blood flowing again.

The band is set to release a B-Sides & Rarities collection next month.  In the current piracy-friendly internet climate, any concerns about releasing a record comprised of material that’s long since been traded by fans?
One of the main reasons we did this album is to get the “Volume 2” stuff out with proper sound quality. It’s basically six new recordings and six old recordings that have been remastered. A lot of the stuff that has been floating around the internet over the years has an unmixed, unmastered, cassette sound quality to it; and that’s never good.

The new record features the single “Afterworld,” written specifically for the Jackass 3D film. How does one gather inspiration and/or find the appropriate tone when attempting to write musical “score” for a Jackass picture?
It was originally called "We Will Never Die In The 3D World" but the Jackass dudes thought we were being a little too literal with the whole 3D thing, so we changed it to the "Afterworld," which sounds just as cool I think.

The “Ask CKY” section of your website is particularly amusing.  What’s the most annoying question that people should stop asking?
When are you playing (insert town here)? Seriously, half the questions asked are that. Actually, the last gig we played was in Maryland, a few months ago, and as soon as I get home from that gig, I go on the computer and the very first question is, "When are you guys playing Baltimore next?" At that point I just want to stab myself in the face.

What’s next for the band? Recording new material? More touring?
We are going to Canada and then some festivals in Europe, maybe get some recording done in between. I don’t really know the best way to release music these days, so hopefully someone can figure out how to do it correctly and we can get to work

CKY with special guests, and Sunset Strip Music Festival alum, Warner Drive play the Viper Room this Wednesday, March 2.  Tickets are $15 advance. www.ckyalliance.com www.viperroom.com
