During work hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.), lanes will be reduced to one travel lane in the eastbound and one travel lane in the westbound direction. At the end of the day lanes will be reopened to two lanes of traffic in each direction.

This week the contractor is continuing to work on replacing damaged sidewalks, driveways, and corner ramps on both the north side and the south side of the street. Any affected driveways will be temporarily inconvenienced then steel plates installed to allow for access. Contractor to work with affected businesses prior to any driveway being worked on.

There will be some electrical work being done at the Kings Road traffic signal. No power interruptions are associated with this work.

Broken and/or damaged concrete in the roadway will be worked on this week. This involves excavating the damaged area, fixing/compacting the soil that is under the pavement and then repaving the damaged area. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction. The roadway resumes to two lanes of traffic in each direction at the end of the day.

There will be some grinding of the concrete roadway on Wednesday (Feb. 17) and Thursday (Feb. 18). This is a sample area to see how fast the grinding machine can get through this very old concrete. This will give the contractor a better idea on how fast they can repave the entire phase. Based on those results the grind/pave operation shall be scheduled starting the following Tuesday.

Commuters should expect some delays and plan for additional time to get through the area, but should be aware all businesses are open regular hours during construction. Please remember to support your local businesses during construction!

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during the construction and temporary lane closures. The finished project will create a more pedestrian-friendly atmosphere on The Strip while also making the roadway smoother for drivers.
