TheSunsetStrip.com Exclusive Interview: Fiction Plane

UK indie rockers Fiction Plane journeyed Sunset Strip side for one of only two U.S. appearances promoting the release of their new record Sparks. The seasoned three-piece, comprised of frontman/bassist Joe Sumner, guitarist Seton Daunt and drummer Pete Wilhoit, has already toured the world in support of Sting, The Police and The Bravery, as well as headlined their own sold-out European tour. Now poised to make their mark in the States, band leader and rock royalty progeny Joe Sumner has relocated to Lala Land and is quickly making his presence known.

Before taking the stage for their Nov. 18 performance at the Viper Room, the jovial lads from Fiction Plane spoke with TheSunsetStrip.com about the importance of having a driver’s license, the daunting question of nepotism when you are Sting's son, and supermodels who work in coffee shops.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $13.50. www.theroxyonsunset.com

Night + Market Lets You Discover Thailand, Without The Checked Bag Fees

Last Thursday, Dec. 2, Night + Market debuted on The Sunset Strip to a packed, and very vibrant, crowd. The newly opened Thai street food restaurant from owner and chef Kris Yenbamroong is the sister to an already standing Talesai, which opened in 1982 by his parents. Yenbamroong took the helm of the Sunset Strip staple a few years ago, and when the space next door to Talesai became available, he knew it would be the ideal location for a new venture.

Night + Market is a late night communal dining spot boasting tapas style plates based on Thai street food items. The menu features favorites like crispy catfish, pork stew and fried chicken wings, all accompanied by a selection of beers from Southeast Asia and wine that can be ordered in “taste” size as well as by the glass or bottle.
