Hosted by Heather Garfias, this week’s gathering will feature sets from Tetris and Al Squared spinning til 2 a.m. Doors open at 10 p.m. RSVP at missahhbrey@gmail.com. www.thestandardhotels.com/hollywood

The Cat Club, JD Bender Partner For Weekly "Hollywood Hayride" Country Music Night

The Cat Club may be a lot rock and roll, but starting this Wednesday it also gets a little bit country with JD Bender’s Hollywood Hayride, a new weekly residency that promises to put some Hollywood tinsel in your two-step. Country crooner turned club promoter JD Bender was able to hang up his boots long enough to speak with TheSunsetStrip.com about opening night of his Hollywood Hootenanny.

The Comedy Store Unleashes Its Ghostly Past

Opening its doors in 1940, Ciro’s nightclub was the original Sunset Strip hotspot for the who’s who of Tinseltown. Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Cary Grant, Joan Crawford and notorious members of the mob were among those who performed and played here.

So with 70-plus years of storied history – as well as some illicit scandal from the mob days – under its belt, it should be no surprise that the building that now houses the world famous Comedy Store is considered one of the most haunted landmarks in Los Angeles.

On Oct. 8, The Store kicked off a month-long series paying tribute to its specters in residence with “Haunted Midnights.”  Part history lesson, part tour and all laughs, the night had a great balance of spooky Sunset Strip lore and comedic performance.

Photographers Celebrate Community, Art & Music With "Stripped" Exhibit

Have you ever dreamed of being on stage with Slash, backstage at The Roxy Theatre or front and center performing in front of thousands of people during the Sunset Strip Music Festival? Luckily for you, a host of photographers is bringing this experience directly to you as part of their "Stripped: A Collection of Photographs from The Sunset Strip" exhibit.

Initially launched  during the Sunset Strip Music Festival in August, the exhibit showcases the collective works of those who have documented and captured concerts and life on The Sunset Strip during the past four decades. And the exhibit doesn't just celebrate amazing performances by legendary artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Jay-Z and Slash, but more importantly, it illustrates the new sense of community and artistic camaraderie on The Strip.

Key Club Booker Takes Innovative Approach To Music Networking, Promotions Game

Filling a venue as spacious as the Key Club is no easy feat. Doing it night after night, well that’s a job that even seasoned bookers would shy away from. So the fact that the venue’s national talent buyer, David Gordoni, has any time for side projects is a genuine tribute to his networking skills and industry experience.

Graduating from the University of Southern California’s music industry program in 2002, Gordoni began his journey in the music business working as an assistant at a major talent agency. Looking for a way to network in his new found community, Gordoni thought of an innovative strategy to build relationships by compiling and centralizing all the pertinent info on upcoming concerts in the L.A. area.
