A Little Liquid Courage

The countdown to the most beloved or hated holiday has begun. In the days leading up to Valentine's Day, we’re highlighting The Sunset Strip's many unique offerings.

The Strip is no stranger to the charms of delicious cocktails, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Saddle up to the bar and enjoy some deliciously luxurious treats.

RH at Andaz is pouring a refreshing Berry In Love cocktail, which is composed of muddled raspberries, rosewater, St. Germain, vodka and pineapple juice shaken and strained into a martini glass and topped with soda ($12). The bar will also feature a selection of alluring champagnes such as Philipponnat “Royale Reserve” and Roederer Estate “Rosato” during Valentine’s weekend.

Construction Update

The Sunset Strip is getting beautified and anyone who has visited this week may have noticed traffic is moving a little slower.

This week construction crews are replacing concrete bus pads near La Cienega and Sweetzer as part of the Sunset Strip Beautification Project -- which also includes repaving the boulevard for the first time in 75 years, replacing damaged sidewalks and making the boulevard more pedestrian friendly. The newly poured concrete pads take seven days to fully dry and harden enough to support the weight of vehicles. This has forced traffic down to one lane in these areas throughout the week.

The closed lanes should reopen this Friday, Feb. 5, letting traffic flow freely this weekend.

Crews are also working on The Strip between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sunset Strip Picks: Feb. 1-7

This week The Strip does its part to help with Haiti Relief.  Make a difference while still enjoying a great night out.

It is true that sometimes laughter is the best medicine. Monday, Feb. 1 The Comedy Store and UNICEF present a very special evening to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Scheduled to appear: Sam Tripoli, Tom Arnold, Duncan Trusselland and Jeff Garlin. The great thing about The Store, especially with these types of benefit shows, you never know what A-list talents will drop in for a quick guest appearance. Doors open at 7 p.m. and all box office proceeds for this show will be donated to UNICEF. Tickets are $10. The Comedy Store is ages 21+. www.thecomedystore.com
